2008 Open Source Think Tank

Once again, Olliance Group and DLA Piper hosted the most innovative open source event of the year: the 3rd annual Open Source Think Tank "The Future of Commercial Open Source" February 7-9 in Napa, California.

The Open Source Think Tank is the leading invitation only commercial open source brainstorm and networking conference of its kind in the world.  More than 120 leading CEOs, CIO/CTOs, VCs, Attorneys and industry Luminaries representing top Fortune 100 companies and other key organizations worked together for 3 days to discuss the state-of-the-industry of commercial open source and brainstorm together to advance individual and collective issues.

The event focused on the evolution of commercial open source, business models, industry consolidation and legal issues.

The caliber of attendees was second to none, the level of participation and discussion was tremendous and the face-to-face networking was extremely successful.

Important trends were identified and will be available via video podcasts and the Executive Summary white paper within the next several weeks.

If you wish to receive an invitation for next year's event or to obtain a copy of the Executive Summary and/or video podcasts please contact Norm Swaton at nswaton@olliancegroup.com.

The Open Source Think Tank was an excellent event -- unequivocally the best event I've attended this year. Solid attendee-driven content, great discussion moderation and superlative networking opportunities.
David Marr,
Chief Counsel, Open Source Group and Global Engineering,
Sun Microsystems, Inc.

...The forum was ideal for allowing me to interact and share ideas with my peers and in helping me determine how, and if, to engage as a consumer or contributor to open source projects. I came away...with a greater understanding of both the value that a group of dedicated developers can provide in terms of engineering solutions, and the potential risks of open source from a procurement perspective.

Michael Josephs,
Vice President, Production Technology and Client Services,
Strata Care, Inc.
The Open Source Think Tank...was ideal, not only for the chance to share ideas and address the challenges surrounding commercial open source with my peers, but for the networking and business development opportunities. Collabnet was able move at least three partner and potential customer relationships forward at the event itself.
